🗺️ How to Reach: Choose Your Adventure
Because Lalaji Bay is isolated from the main Long Island settlement, you have two ways to reach it. Both are adventures in their own right:
The Jungle Trek
A 1.5 to 2.5 hour hike starting near the Blue Planet Eco Huts. The trail cuts straight through dense tropical rainforest and occasional marshy mangrove patches.
- High humidity; carry at least 2L water
- Not recommended during monsoons (leeches)
- Cost: Free!
The Scenic Dunghi
Hire a local motorized wooden boat ("Dunghi") from the Long Island Jetty. The 30-40 minute ride takes you through stunning mangrove creeks and open open sea.

Staying at Lalaji Bay
The Forest Department maintains a handful of basic Eco-Tents right on the beach. Staying overnight here with a billion stars and the sound of the ocean is magical. Basic, home-cooked meals are provided by the caretaker, but you must book these tents in advance through the Forest Office in Port Blair or Middle Andaman.
